The Foundation of Malopolski University for Children & Centre for Intercultural Education, University of Athens

Although MUfC have conducted its CU activity for some time already, the actual number of workshops or science fair or other hands-on activities is very low. The mentoring project would help to get the practical knowlege of how to increase this number and start this kind activity - as it is known as best rising enthusiasm in science methods among young peopleWe are sure that a mentoring partnership would give us the opportunity to improve our work and to include missing type of activities in our work.

MUfC is quite experienced in organizing interdisciplinary lectures far from university centres, also in establishing close relationships with universities and science institutes to encourage their faculty to visit rural area and successfully spread the idea of science for everybody. Also MUfC has good experience in running Children's University like activities under very limited funds -having built good cooperation with local governments, students voluntary work, and local business representatives. These experiences are to share with the partner to benefit from it.

The Youth and Children’s University of Greece is represented by people with long experience in working with schools on innovative actions and pedagogical methods and combining the global dimension with the local one (think globally, act locally). It will also develop an original program to approach very critical global problems like the MDGS. As the MUfC has experience doing seminars outside of the university campus and under conditions of limited funding the Youth and Children’s University of Greece will be able to benefit from their mentoring.

The partner will benefit from the Mentoring Partnership in choosing attractive themes for the lectures that connect the ancient Greek like myths with today’s European cultures and science, using methods in a new way, like project method, the generative words by Paulo Freire and the meeftiki, a dispute analysis developed by Socrates.

Both partner wish to see the work of other side, spend some time together exploring advantages and disadvantages of a given model. .Also we would like to see the methods of organizing such events and methodology of measuring required outcomes. Frequent study visit and conference meetings would be a great possibility to explore similarities and differences with regards to different ways of acquiring knowledge and raising aspirations in science learning.

The collaboration will also allow the partners to cultivate solidarity and increase understanding between youth and children from different countries (with immigrant background) through knowledge breaking stereotypes.

It can be developed to a very interesting explorative combination of theory and methodology.
