Universidad EAFIT & ACUP: Our action plan (information in process of review)

 

The action framework of the MA Universidad de los niños EAFIT – Universitat dels nens i les nenes de Catalunya is sustainability. Within this area, initially the main topic was the development of an impact evaluation model, looking forward to contribute with this to the sustainability of CU-type programmes. After visiting each other and exchanging some ideas about the topic changed to the identification of arguments that are relevant to do Children’s Universities type activities in our local contexts, and from these, to propose universal arguments.

 Process and scope of the plan

Action 1. To get to know in deep the methodology and nature of both programmes and put in common the impact evaluation experiences done by each of them.

  • Activity 1.1: Each organization prepares an information package about the impact evaluation exercises done until now and makes a diagnosis of the achievements
  • Activity 1.2: Each organization analyses the information compiled by the other partner and proposes factors that they consider to be relevant in order to build a shared model of impact evaluation. Both contexts will be analyzed, and we will compare differences and similarities.
  • Activity 1.3: Visit to Barcelona to get to know the activities done in the programme. February 10th to the 16th. For economic and functional reasons, only one study visit will be done to each country. In order to work in deep and thoroughly analyze the project, one person from the team in charge of the project will participate in the study visit.
  • Activity 1.4: Visit to Medellín to get to know the activities done in the programme. April 4th to the 13th. In order to work in deep and thoroughly analyze the project, 3 people from the team in charge of the project will participate in the study visit.
  • Activity 1.5: Definition of the profile of the experts that will assess the development of the impact evaluation model, as well as focusing of the aspects to be evaluated, and definition of the scope of the proposed impact evaluation. Experts will be selected from the participant organizations and from SiS Catalysts. In this moment we will also define. This activity was not done, because the action plan changed from this point.
  • Activity 1.6: Communication of partial results to the SiS Catalyst team in Tartu.

 Action 2: To identify arguments to do Children’s University in our local contexts. This action will be done by each team separately.

  • Activity 2.1: To identify social problems feasible to address with CU type activities. These will be identified from different perspectives: children, families, schools, universities, government and society.
  • Activity 2.2: To organise the collected problems with a Problems tree analysis. This activity conducts to a selection of the main problems that we intend to address with CU activities.
  • Activity 2.3: To find public documents which evidence the existence of the selected social problems.
  • Activity 2.4: To build a Solutions tree pinpointing the intervention of our Children Universities: current activities and new opportunities. Also we will identify key players and allies that contribute/could contribute, and specifying their intervention.
  • Activity 2.5: To exchange the findings of each team -Problems and solutions trees, evidences- and share it with the SiS Catalyst community in the Lodz conference. This includes a meeting before the conference.

 Action 3: To propose universal arguments to do Children’s University type activities.

  • Activity 3.1: To revise and adjust of the Problems and solutions trees of the EAFIT Children’s University with key players. This is done together with people of the ACUP team, so this activity includes a visit to Medellin.
  • Activity 3.2: To revise and adjust of the Problems and solutions trees of the Catalonian Children’s University with key players. This is done together with people of the EAFIT team, so this activity includes a visit to Barcelona.
  • Activity 3.3: To propose universal arguments to do Children’s University type activities, from the analysis and comparison of the Problems and solutions trees for both contexts. This is done during the same visit to Barcelona
  • Activity 3.4: To communicate conclusions and findings of the mentoring associates project to the SiS Catalyst community.
